Sun-dappled Le Mas de Mon Père glorifies the golden square of France’s Alpilles on the Destet wine route between St. Remy and les Baux de Provence just 25 minutes from Avignon by train. Famous designer Gérard Faivre, modern interpreter of Provence, dedicated the unique haven to the films, books, and memories of Marcel Pagnol and Jacques Tati: “to make you dream.” That it does. Surrounding the house with nostalgia, he revisits gardens inspired by the movie Mon Oncle, creating oversized colorful containers overflowing with the essences of Provence. A swimming pool and open-air cinema lend magic to starry evenings against a backdrop of olive trees and vines that silhouette panoramic views of the Alpilles and the valley of the Crau. The outdoor atmosphere now set, we move indoors, where a happy marriage unites harmony, space, comfort, and—above all—color. Faivre’s theme “Living amongst the colors you love makes life beautiful” enlivens every area with his own personal palette of vintage wallpapers and fabrics. Among the most memorable settings are a lyrical living room opening onto the terrace, a comforting lounge with fireplace, an ultracontemporary kitchen, and five signature bedroom suites. For the final flourish, Faivre bestowed a luxurious private spa, sauna, and indoor pool worthy of a 5-star hotel.
