Stunning white-sand beaches, dramatic cliffs and rock formations on the “golden corridor,” two miles of Baja’s Sea of Cortez coast that stretch from Cabo San Lucas—once a sport-fishing mecca for celebrities such as John Wayne and Bing Crosby—is soon to blossom with Discovery Land Company’s Chileno Bay community. The 1,200- acre paradise, extending from beaches in the east to mountains in the south and west, will still boast superb water sports in the calm waters of Chileno Bay, but also include a spectacular Tom Fazio golf course, a beach club with superb grill restaurant and bar, a resort pool, and an ocean-pier bar that will evoke the watering hole once frequented by Wayne and Crosby and their sporting friends. Other new facilities will pay stylish homage to the property’s original hotel, while the boutique hotel near the center of the community, Chileno Bay Resort and Residences, plans to welcome visitors by the end of 2016. Chileno Bay’s 350 to 400 members will be able to choose predominantly single-family detached homes, including villas, haciendas, and casitas, that reflect a Spanish Mediterranean design, carried out in stone with wrought- iron elements and surrounded by lush landscaping that includes palms and flowering plants. In addition to stand-alone residences, a limited number of attached units near the beach club and large custom lots will be available. In 2017, attention will turn to construction of the fitness center, spa, and locker rooms. Looking ahead, members will enjoy a family-friendly park, sports fields, and an organic garden patterned on Baja’s well-known Flora Farms, all accomplished with Discovery land Company’s signature attention to detail.
