The noble family from Bologna, the Marquis Sampieri, bought the vast terrains which lay down over 110 hectares on the right bank of the Rhine River in the sixteenth century. The Villa was built inside this park in the early 1600s over the ruins of a medieval fortress lying on the hills. The Casalecchio estate was a centre of worldliness and cultural meetings. World-famous musicians like Donizetti and Rossini headed memorable concerts and Stendhal, traveling to Bologna, spent a long time in the Villa drawing inspiration for his novels. The French writer was so impressed by the beauty of this place that he defined it the “Bois de Boulogne” of Bologna. In the early 1900s the Villa with its wonderful garden was chosen as preferred setting for several films of Felsina, the film company pioneering the Italian movie production.
Just 15 minutes drive from downtown Bologna can look like days once you will reach Villa Talon Sampieri. The house was built in the seventeenth century and is guarded by a 20,000 square meters fenced land with a terrific pool, surrounded by a public park of over 100 hectares, so that your eyes will be gazing just centennial trees all around. The Villa is perfectly preserved either inside or in the structures thanks to a careful maintenance performed by the current owners and features four levels. Crossing the glazed porch with high vaulted ceilings, guests are welcomed at the garden level in precious halls and lounges with wooden frescoed ceilings, inlaid floors, and antique details, all of them perfectly preserved. Reaching the first floor, as precious as the ground one in terms of finishings, the great hall leads to four large bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms. The basement floor, with vaulted brick ceilings, hosts several living areas, a large kitchen, a service area, an indoor pool, and other areas which could be destined to create a fabulous spa. The attic floor features two guests rooms and a completely independent 110-square-meter apartment with modern finishes.
